A sudden storm traps ten complete strangers in a remote motel somewhere in Nevada. Among them are an actress and her driver, a policeman escorting a convict, a newly-wed couple, a prostitute and a family with a mute 9-year-old son. When the storm starts a simple road accident begins a series of unfortunate events. In a parallel story, Malcolm Rivers, convicted of vicious murders, is awaiting another hearing before he will be sent to the electric chair. Dr Malick found his diary and is convinced that he has the answer to why Rivers killed. Meanwhile, in the motel, the strangers try to get used to the idea they will have spend some time here, since the roads leading out of the area are completely flooded. Everything changes when they realize that some of those unfortunate events were not accidental. Each discovery they make uncovers another mystery that was hidden in this place.
A mystery thriller that takes place in a secluded motel, where someone is killing the unwilling guests, and they have to find which one of them is the murderer. It will not be easy to do, since not all of them is who they say. The atmosphere is dark, the plot is well written, and the cast keeps it involving until the end. Well, almost until the end, because the formula chosen by the writers works well only up to the point. While the sudden twists in the story work well, the only weak point of the whole film, the ending, fails to deliver what was building for the 90% of the time. It almost seems like the ending was added in last moment without properly linking it to the rest of the plot. Nevertheless, even if the ending could be slightly disappointing, the rest of Identity is completely worth it.
